In their second grant cycle of 2019, Cannonball Kids’ cancer Foundation (CKc) awarded $565,000 for four research grants, creating 200 options for children battling cancer through clinical trials, programs and young investigators. Among those awarded, first announced in January of 2020, was Amy A. Smith, MD, and Laura Wieber, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, receiving $65,000 for the first and only Florida-based oncofertility clinic for childhood cancer patients.

Dr. Phillips Charities, a major supporter of Orlando Health and not-for-profits throughout Central Florida, recently announced more than $1,000,000 in grant funding to assist local charities meet special needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Orlando Health is honored to be one of the recipients of this funding; a very special grant will assist families served by The Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families.
Students and faculty at Crooms Academy in Sanford, FL came together for their annual CroomsCon game day on Saturday, March 13th. This event brings together students from grades 7-12 to “game for good” with all proceedings benefitting Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.
The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Impact Award recognizes a doctor, nurse or caregiver that provides exceptional care and is supported by CMN Hospitals funds. Presented during Children’s Hospitals Week, this award shines a light on providers for the impact they are making on children’s health in their community.
In 2020, Panda Express raised more than $100,000 for Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital to support the emotional, social, mental and spiritual well-being of our patients! We loved celebrating each restaurants success and recognizing the hard work of these incredible teams!
Since the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Central Florida community has rallied behind our healthcare workers. Acts of kindness in the form of financial contributions, donations of critical personal protective equipment (PPE), encouraging notes, gift cards, luncheons and even a pet therapy puppy parade provided our heroes with the hope they needed. Vital support from this community helped us continue to provide compassionate, leading-edge medical care at Orlando Health when it truly mattered most.
