The TD Charitable Foundation Supports Teen Xpress

The TD Charitable Foundation is committed to making a difference in local communities, and here in Central Florida, that difference can be seen through their support of The Howard Phillips Center for Children and Families, part of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children.

From 2020 – 2022, TD Charitable Foundation provided support to the Teen Xpress program at the Howard Phillips Center through grants totaling $45,000.

Teen Xpress is a unique school-based mobile healthcare unit that provides complete medical and mental healthcare services to underserved, uninsured and at-risk students at several low-income middle and high schools in Orange County. Teen Xpress provides these services to families free of charge and holds a reputation for providing outstanding services within the Central Florida community.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, underserved and marginalized populations were impacted the most. Throughout that time, Teen Xpress continued to provide the healthcare teens needed including free physical exams and immunizations. As schools closed however, a shift was required in how the program offered its services. Thanks to support from TD Charitable Foundation, our program was able to modify and expand its services to meet the increased need brought on by the pandemic.

As Teen Xpress continued to provide clients in Central Florida with vital care needs, the program adapted its services to include:

• Food distribution, connecting many teens at our partner schools in low-income areas with food box deliveries.
• Telehealth, making services more accessible and convenient so teens continued to receive mental health and nutrition services.
• Expanded reach to teens attending any school in Orange County.
• Online education featuring video demonstrations of stress reduction techniques and healthy food preparation from our Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Dietitian.

Teens receive much more than a visit to the doctor when they come to Teen Xpress; an entire multi-disciplinary team of professionals is dedicated to helping them become the healthiest person possible. Without community support from organizations like TD Charitable Foundation, Teen Xpress would not be able to provide its essential services to the hundreds of families we serve.
