Who is BAPS Charities in Orlando?

BAPS Charities in Orlando is just one of hundreds of chapters across the world.  We are a global charity active in nine countries across five continents. Volunteers drive its efforts, dedicating a portion of their lives in selfless service of others, both in their local neighborhoods as well as globally. Working in five key areas, BAPS Charities aims to express a spirit of selfless service through:

• Health awareness,
• Educational services
• Humanitarian relief
• Environmental protection and preservation, and
• Community empowerment.

From organizing walkathons that raise funds for local and global needs, to supporting humanitarian relief in times of urgent need; from hosting community health fairs to sustaining hospitals and schools in developing countries, BAPS Charities provides an opportunity for individuals wishing to serve locally and globally. 

Why did BAPS Charities Orlando decide to make this gift to Orlando Health’s Team Member Support Fund?

Several of our volunteers are also frontline team members at Orlando Health.  We wished to give back to our community and fellow team members.  Physicians approached BAPS Charities and asked if Orlando Health could be the beneficiary of part of the financial donations going to local communities via our organization.  We hope the $4,000 will help those during this time of need.

What might someone be surprised to learn about BAPS Charities?

During COVID-19, nationally BAPS Charities has delivered over 110,000 PPE to healthcare and frontline workers, distributed over 83,000 meals to frontline workers and families in need, and donated over $180,000 to hospitals (like Orlando Health), schools, and community organizations. 

How do you hope BAPS Charities will make an impact in our community?

Beyond what we are doing during COVID-19, our volunteers here in Orlando throughout the year coordinate health fairs, blood drives, bone marrow screenings, administer flu shots, give quarterly health awareness lectures, and coordinate an annual Walk that supports breast cancer awareness. We are committed to the health and wellness of our neighbors and community! This is why our volunteers choose to support Orlando Health, our missions and values are aligned in how we approach the health of our community.

What is an important thing about the team members at Orlando Health that you would share with friends or family who wanted to know more?

Orlando Health does an incredible job in delivering top line health care to its patients. It does this by investing in its team members.  Many of these team members are motivated to serve beyond their roles at the hospital by giving back to their communities.  There is a strong sense of unity among the team members.
