    Neeraj Desai, MD, and Avani M. Desai have been active donors, volunteers and advocates of Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies for nearly a decade. Since 2012, Dr. Desai has been a part of Orlando Health Winnie Palmer’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine division, working closely with community obstetricians to deliver the highest quality care to women during their pregnancy. Avani is a leader in her field, serving as the President of Tampa-based Schellman & Company, LLC – in 2018, she was the only minority head of a “Top 100” CPA firm, and one of only a handful of female leaders.

  • Rebekah Johnson: A Journey With Breast Cancer

    In March of 2014, Rebekah Johnson was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer. Like with most new cancer patients, her diagnosis rapidly turned her life upside down. As a wife and stay-at-home mom of three teenagers, Rebekah enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time with friends and being involved with her church and community. Then, suddenly, Rebekah was undergoing painful biopsies and tests. Although she worked hard to remain positive while regaining her health, overall, her medical journey was extremely stressful. 

  • Craig H. Neilsen Foundation Grants a New Start for Those with Spinal Cord Injuries

    Orlando Health was recently awarded a $53,000 grant from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation to help support those affected by spinal cord injury or disease. The grant, ‘Creating Opportunities for Independence’ was used to purchase adaptive exercise equipment and fund a one-year membership for up to 15 participants at a local gym.

  • Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Brings Joy to Local Kids

    On May 25, Dunkin’ restaurants across our community celebrated Iced Coffee Day in an extra special way. Through the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, for every iced coffee sold on this day, $1 was donated to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. In total, local Dunkin’ restaurants raised $30,000 for the kids and families served at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer.

    The Haley Center for Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children was awarded a $100,000 Hyundai Impact Award from the Hyundai Hope on Wheels program.

  • Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center – Health Central Hospital is now open and treating cancer patient

    Orlando Health UF Health Cancer Center – Health Central Hospital will be the first in Central Florida and one of only six facilities in the country to treat cancer with MRI-guided radiotherapy.
