    Samantha TheessenRunway to Hope’s mission is to support families primarily in Central Florida, fighting pediatric cancer, while also seeking a cure. Through relationships with local children’s hospitals, Runway to Hope fosters collaborative efforts among corporations, local businesses and philanthropists to not only raise funds and awareness, but also bring new programs and initiatives to the pediatric cancer community. Additionally, they provide direct support and aid primarily to Central Florida children and their families impacted by pediatric cancer.

    When the world began to shut-down in the Spring of 2020, events and fundraisers were some of the first things cancelled, with no idea of when circumstances would allow such functions to operate again. For non-profits and organizations needing philanthropic support to care for others, where did this leave them? That was the thought racing in the minds of Jared and Julie Wolovnick in the midst of the world-wide pandemic. 

  • Rebekah Johnson: A Journey With Breast Cancer

    In March of 2014, Rebekah Johnson was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer. Like with most new cancer patients, her diagnosis rapidly turned her life upside down. As a wife and stay-at-home mom of three teenagers, Rebekah enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time with friends and being involved with her church and community. Then, suddenly, Rebekah was undergoing painful biopsies and tests. Although she worked hard to remain positive while regaining her health, overall, her medical journey was extremely stressful. 

  • Craig H. Neilsen Foundation Grants a New Start for Those with Spinal Cord Injuries

    Orlando Health was recently awarded a $53,000 grant from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation to help support those affected by spinal cord injury or disease. The grant, ‘Creating Opportunities for Independence’ was used to purchase adaptive exercise equipment and fund a one-year membership for up to 15 participants at a local gym.

  • Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Brings Joy to Local Kids

    On May 25, Dunkin’ restaurants across our community celebrated Iced Coffee Day in an extra special way. Through the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation, for every iced coffee sold on this day, $1 was donated to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. In total, local Dunkin’ restaurants raised $30,000 for the kids and families served at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer.

    The Silver Spurs Rodeo is a historically prominent event that has been held in Osceola County since 1944. From the beginning, the Silver Spurs have prioritized philanthropy. For over eight decades, the organization has given a percentage of the money raised through the rodeo and other events back to the community.
