Suree & Zaby Vyas Foundation Continues Legacy of Healthcare in Longwood

Suree and Dr. Zabunnissa “Zaby” Vyas, via their foundation, have made a generous gift in memory of Richard Shaffer, DO, as a tribute to his lifelong dedication to healthcare excellence.

Dr. Richard Shaffer was more than a healthcare professional; he was a beacon of compassion, dedication and service to the Longwood community. For three decades he worked alongside Dr. Zaby Vyas and together they built a distinguished family medicine practice where their commitment to patient care and medical expertise has left a lasting legacy in their community.

Funds will be directed toward the Longwood Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED). FSEDs remove the need to travel long distances on congested roadways by placing services further into the community. The enhancement of the Longwood FSED aligns with Dr. Shaffer’s commitment to healthcare and the Suree & Zaby Vyas Foundation’s desire to ensure that residents have swift access to life-saving medical care during emergencies.

The collaboration between the Orlando Health Foundation and the Suree & Zaby Vyas Foundation is a powerful homage to Dr. Richard Shaffer’s exemplary life of service.

“We are deeply honored to make this gift in memory of Dr. Richard Shaffer. His dedication to the Longwood community and the healthcare field was truly inspiring. This contribution is a tribute to his legacy, ensuring that his impact continues to be felt through improved emergency care,”
