Orlando Health Expands Bone Marrow Transplant Program

This summer, the Orlando Health Cancer Institute’s Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy program became one of the largest units of its kind in the state of Florida.

A significant expansion has increased the program’s capacity to care for patients, growing from a four-bed program to 30 beds. The state-of-the-art facility offers rooms with positive pressure, where only highly purified air can enter. These highly specialized rooms reduce the risk of infection for patients while providing more privacy during treatment.

Among the country’s top 10% of units for positive patient outcomes, the Bone Marrow and Cellular Therapy program’s commitment to excellence has been recognized by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). The rigorous evaluation process for recognition requires adherence to the most comprehensive standards in the field.

Since opening in 2020, the Bone Marrow and Cellular Therapy program has completed 217 bone marrow transplants, demonstrating its expertise and dedication to improving the lives of patients battling complex cancers and a commitment to providing the highest-quality healthcare possible.
