From Student to Patient to Friend
After experiencing Orlando Health in a number of ways, Pat Gleason chose to support the Foundation through a gift in her will.
In the late 1960’s Pat Gleason, a registered nurse, relocated to Orlando from her hometown in England. Once established in her new home, she joined the class at Orlando Health’s school of nursing (then Orange Memorial Hospital) in order to receive her certification to practice nursing in the United States, as she wanted to continue her career here.
Since that time Orlando Health has become a rich part of her personal history. She not only received her schooling here and her daughter and grandson were born here, but she has also been a patient.
A two-time cancer survivor, Pat attributes Orlando Health and our highly skilled clinical teams for saving her life when she battled breast cancer and lung cancer.
Her tremendous gratitude led to a desire to leave a legacy for the future with a bequest gift to support UF Health Cancer Center – Orlando Health.
“Short of my family, Orlando Health was the first place I thought to support,” Pat says. “I am extremely proud to be a part of Orlando Health’s history, as well as a part of helping to care for the health of our community tomorrow.”
We are grateful for Pat’s remarkable generosity, and her desire to help provide hope to our patients seeking the highest level of compassionate care in a great time of need.
