When Mildred Bailey’s daughter was admitted to Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) and hospitalized in a medically-induced coma, Mildred did not want to leave her side. As the clinicians at ORMC worked skillfully to save her daughter’s life, the team at Hubbard House, a hospitality home at Orlando Health, stepped in to help Mildred.

Hubbard House, which is located just steps away from the hospital, provided great comfort to Mildred as she knew she could be available to support her daughter at any time. Not only did it provide a place for her to rest, but Hubbard House was a special, peaceful place with an abundance of caring people who helped her cope throughout her daughter’s illness. Mildred Bailey said, "ORMC saved by daughter's life. Hubbard House and all the people there saved mine."

After three months, her daughter was able to return home, but the warmth and kindness Mildred experienced at Hubbard House left a lasting impression. Her experience inspired her to establish a gift through her estate of $10,000 to support the continued efforts of Hubbard House. We are grateful for Mildred’s generosity which will leave a legacy of hope for many families in their greatest times of need.
