Dorothy Dennis - A Legacy of Generosity

For the past several years Dorothy has chosen to establish a charitable gift annuity to benefit the hospital – not just on any day, but on her birthday.

It is said that it is better to give than to receive. For long-time supporter Dorothy Dennis it is something she has lived by throughout her life. One way she is modeling this is through her philanthropic support of Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. For the past several years Dorothy has chosen to establish a charitable gift annuity to benefit the hospital – not just on any day, but on her birthday. This year she celebrated her 90th birthday with her 8th gift annuity, and plans to continue celebrating in this way for the remainder of her life.

Dorothy first learned about the benefits of gift annuities through a newsletter much like this one. “I felt in my heart the need to support a cause I believed in, and giving through an annuity allowed me to achieve that goal while continuing to receive a guaranteed income,” she shares. This former Rutgers professor has not only given generously of her treasure, but also of her time and talent in various volunteer roles throughout her life, including many years assisting children and families as a volunteer in the surgical waiting area of the legacy rich in meaning. She shares, “You don’t need a fortune hospital. Dorothy’s years of giving and service have created a to make a difference – everyone has something to give.”
