Born a surviving twin four months premature, Ashton weighed a mere 1 pound. His round-the-clock care began in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies with life-supporting equipment. The day Ashton was extubated was the first time his parents heard their son cry, which they describe as the most beautiful music to their ears. After 111 days in the NICU, Ashton's oxygen line was removed and he began breathing completely on his own. Today, Ashton is a loving, compassionate and entertaining kid who loves amusement parks, riding his go-kart, and getting the crowd going on a microphone!
