Love for Community

Dr. Ben Wright found his “happy place” on the Orlando Health campus, where he spent most of his career as an anesthesiologist.

Although born into a family of accomplished veterinarians, he recognized that pursuing veterinary studies was not his calling, prompting him to shift focus and earn his medical degree from Indiana University.

In 1963, Dr. Wright and his beloved wife, Lois — a “bright, city girl” from his hometown — and their three children moved to Florida. After completing his residency at the University of Florida, the family eventually settled in Central Florida, where he established an independent anesthesiology practice on the campus of Orlando Health (then known as Orange Memorial Hospital). He often referred to this time practicing medicine as the highlight of his career.

After several decades on the downtown campus, Dr. Wright transformed his success and love for his community into a meaningful legacy with a charitable gift annuity. The real estate his practice once occupied was used to fund the annuity, which provided him with several tax benefits in exchange for income for life.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity provides a meaningful way to support the mission of Orlando Health while offering lifetime income and attractive tax advantages. Fund your annuity with cash or appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds or mutual funds to maximize your generosity.
