Creating a Legacy: Rose Mary Ogram

Imagine a woman of unwavering independence, a globetrotter with a passion for numbers, a cultivator of profound friendships, and a perpetual seeker of knowledge, even in her eighties. This is the essence of Ms. Rose Mary Ogram, a remarkable individual.

Rose Mary, with an accent reminiscent of Scarlet O’Hara, was not just a high school math teacher and tutor but a dedicated educator who left a profound impact on her students. An astute investor, her intelligence and prudence allowed her to leave a philanthropic legacy upon her passing.

After growing up in Tallahassee and attending Florida State University, she spent time living abroad in Belgium alongside her parents. When her mom’s health began to fail, Rose Mary returned to Orlando with her family and eventually became the main caregiver for her aging parents. Throughout their lives in Central Florida, the family received much of their medical care at Orlando Health, within walking distance of their family’s home. The care provided to Rose Mary and her family made a lasting impact.

Rose Mary’s belief in giving her best, regardless of the circumstances, was a principle she imparted to her extended family and students. This principle also guided her in her estate planning. In addition to providing for her family and endowing a scholarship fund, she chose to enhance the future of healthcare by allocating a portion of her estate to Orlando Health.

Through Rose Mary’s generous planned gift, an endowment fund was named in her memory to ensure future generations will remember and celebrate her generosity. The impact of her giving will help elevate the care that Orlando Health will deliver to patients in our community for years to come.
