Donations support integrated cancer care services that help patients like Theresa navigate the physical, emotional and everyday challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

After more than three decades helping others navigate healthcare, Theresa never expected to become a patient herself.

In late 2024, Theresa’s annual mammogram led to additional imaging, a biopsy and ultimately a breast cancer diagnosis. Without a family history of breast cancer, the news came as a shock.

Theresa quickly connected with a care team at the Orlando Health Cancer Institute. Over the following months, she completed 18 rounds of chemotherapy, underwent a lumpectomy with lymph node removal, and received radiation therapy. Today, she continues oral chemotherapy while working with rehabilitation specialists and oncology dietitians to support her recovery.

Throughout treatment, Theresa found strength not only in her medical care, but also in the wraparound services that supported her throughout her journey. From counseling and rehabilitation to nutrition guidance, these services helped her navigate the physical and emotional challenges of cancer. Having spent years helping others find the right care, Theresa experienced firsthand the coordinated, compassionate care from Orlando Health that helped her navigate treatment and recovery.
