As Champions Circle members, the Goldstein family has been dedicated supporters of our mission for many years. It was 20 years ago that Adam and Geri Goldstein received the news no parent should ever hear: “your daughter has cancer.”

Geri and Whitney Goldstein From the day of diagnosis, October 18, 2005, Geri and Whitney found inspiration in the Livestrong movement, often accompanied by the motto “Carpe Diem.”

Geri and Whitney described that day as a turning point in their lives, and that phrase instantly became a symbol of strength for the mother-daughter duo.

“Every year on October 18, we choose to celebrate learning to ‘seize the day’ instead of being broken from a battle with cancer,” said Geri Goldstein. “Whitney has wanted to get the tattoo written in each other’s handwriting for at least the past decade. We finally did it on October 18, 2025, the 20th anniversary. We now have a permanent reminder to ‘seize the day,’ simply said ‘carpe diem.’”

Geri and Whitney celebrating the 20th anniversary “For us, the phrase means more than just living in the present moment,” said Whitney Goldstein. “It is a reminder that perseverance in the hardest times is only possible through love, healing and hope. I would not be able to celebrate such a significant milestone without the support of my family and my Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children family, too.”
