A Grandparent’s Love Helps Shape Pediatric Care
Charlotte’s Journey
Charlotte, the Randas’ firstborn granddaughter, was born at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies, like her older brother, Graham.
At eight months old, she was admitted to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children for a respiratory condition and a month later was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease, requiring her to see multiple specialists.
Over the next four years, before Charlotte ultimately passed away, she and her family were surrounded by a team of doctors, nurses, specialists and child life team who cared for them with skill and compassion.

Honoring Charlotte’s Legacy
In remembrance of their granddaughter, Rich and Betty made the decision to honor Charlotte’s legacy by including Orlando Health Arnold Palmer in their estate plans.
A Legacy Gift for Future Families
“Our hope is that our legacy gift will honor our precious Charlotte by blessing other children and their families,” says Betty.
Although the Randas’ legacy gift would make a difference for future generations beyond their lifetime, they felt called to make an immediate impact.
After discovering how the Orlando Health Children’s Pavilion will transform care for families and children like Charlotte — especially those who need to visit multiple specialists — they have since generously supported the project.
