The leaders of CAPI selected Orlando Health as the 2015 recipient of their fundraising activities during their recent convention.
The Central Florida Association of Physicians from the Indian Subcontinent (CAPI) hosted more than 400 physicians at the 2015 Convention & Scientific Assembly of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) held in Orlando.
In keeping with their tradition of supporting local healthcare organizations, the leaders of CAPI selected Orlando Health as the 2015 recipient of their fundraising activities during the convention. Leaders of CAPI include Orlando Health’s Dr. Sudhir K. Bhaskar, CAPI President and Dr. Vijay Patange, Vice President. Additional Central Florida Leaders are Dr. Ravi Akella, Immediate Past President, Dr. Atul Madan, President-Elect, Dr. Priya Vishnubhotla, Secretary and Dr. Rohit Bhatheja, Treasurer.
This year’s gift of more than $50,000 will be used to support two key priorities – medical education and childhood obesity. The leadership of CAPI have established a fund within the Orlando Health Foundation to recognize outstanding residents in both surgery and medicine at Orlando Health. Orlando Health’s outstanding medical education program has served well the needs of Central Florida residents and visitors for many decades.
Fighting childhood obesity is a national priority for AAPI. Orlando Health is partnering with Fresh Stop, a forward-thinking not-for-profit in Central Florida which is ensuring that residents throughout the community, especially in areas recognized as “food deserts” have access to fresh fruits and vegetables so important in the battle against childhood obesity.
