Originally built over 25 years ago, the Trauma Bay in the Level One Trauma Center at Orlando Health Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) was designed to treat 1,000 patients a year. Today, that number has increased to over 6,700 trauma patients annually. Expanding the size of Central Florida’s only Level One Trauma Center is absolutely critical to ensure we are able to keep pace with the growing needs of our community, while providing the highest level of medical excellence for our patients and families when tragedy strikes. More than an emergency department, a trauma center is a state-accredited hospital facility capable of highly specialized, lifesaving treatment for the most critical injuries, including mass causality events, motor vehicle accidents, burns, falls, heart attacks and stroke patients. Teams of 15 to 20 professionals stand ready 24-hours a day to begin immediate, life-saving care the moment a patient arrives.
