VITAS Healthcare Pledges $250,000 for Family Retreat Room at ORMC Tower

VITAS Healthcare, long-time friend and supporter of Orlando Health, recently pledged a philanthropic gift of $250,000. This generous gift will support a Family Retreat Room, which will be named after VITAS and located on the second floor of the Intensive Care Unit, at the Orlando Regional Medical Center Tower.

“We are thrilled to support Orlando Health with the VITAS Family Retreat at Orlando Regional Medical Center Tower,” says VITAS senior vice president of Operations Patty Husted. “As a former nurse, I can appreciate ORMC’s insightful addition of the family room in the ICU setting; which will greatly benefit the families whose loved ones receive intensive care.”

VITAS has worked closely with Orlando Health for years to ensure that hospice patients returning to their homes receive the care and support they need. Because patients in the ICU are typically the most critically ill patients we care for, visitation for their family members can be stressful and exhausting. VITAS’ pledge for the Family Retreat allows those families to receive an extra level of support during a difficult time.

We are so grateful for this generous gift from VITAS Healthcare.
